From the Wood Green Academy
Students at Wood Green Academy have access to a wide variety of engaging programmes and experiences.
In 1998, Wood Green Academy was designated a specialist sports college, and in 2006, it was designated a specialist math and computing college.
A mixed 11–19 Community Comprehensive school, Wood Green is part of the North Sandwell Consortium (Wednesbury North).
We had an Ofsted inspection in May 2012, and we were rated as a "Outstanding School" for the third time in a row.
Excellent educators and support personnel who are familiar with the pupils work with us.
We have top-notch facilities, particularly in the areas of sport, science, and information technology, and over the past five years, we have spent over $3 million to upgrade the educational amenities at Wood Green.
We are among the top schools in Sandwell and the Black Country based on our exam achievements.
However, Wood Green is more than simply test scores, and our extracurricular and enrichment programmes help our students build resilience and other crucial employability skills.
In a variety of athletic and non-athletic pursuits, our students enjoy a distinguished national reputation.
This school is excellent.
Regardless of their unique situations, it offers fantastic opportunity for pupils to thrive, develop, and achieve incredibly well.
The sixth form is exceptional.
Regardless of ability, starting place, or special educational needs, students succeed very well, making rapid and sustained progress through Key Stages 3 and 4 and in the sixth form to earn high academic outcomes.
Lesson learning is of exceptional quality.
The curriculum and specialisations significantly enhance students' academic success and enjoyment of school, engrossing them in the subject matter.
When it comes to the quantity, complexity, and difficulty of learning activities, teaching is characterised by very high expectations.
Outstanding teaching is provided to kids with special needs and those who are disabled.
Teachers routinely expect students to act in accordance with high standards, and the school has an excellent behaviour management system.
As a result, how students behave in class has a big impact on how much they learn.
Outstanding management and leadership are fostered by a morally upright, vivacious, and affable headteacher.
All student groups can succeed with the help of inspiring leadership, consistently outstanding instruction, and an excellent curriculum designed to fit each student's requirements.
The major factors for the remarkable performance of students are inspirational leadership and a continuous pursuit of perfection.
We were listed in an Ofsted report from March 2009 called "Twelve Outstanding Schools, Excelling Against the Odds."
Our dedication to continued development is demonstrated by the Department for Education's designation of our school as a Leading Edge Partnership School.
I qualified as a National Leader of Education in 2014, and I now have that title (NLE).
In 2011, in recognition of our "Outstanding School" classification, we were invited to convert to Academy status by the DfE and this process has now been successfully completed, ensuring an exciting future for all members of the school community.
This was swiftly followed by our successful application to be one of the first 100 Teaching Schools in the nation, providing our employees with even more chances to have an impact on educational standards across the country.
Being selected to be one of the pioneers in this new initiation was a major accomplishment for us.
As the Headteacher of Wood Green Academy, my overarching goal is to ensure that every student who attends Wood Green receives "Excellence in Education."
Come check us out because every day is an Open Day and we always encourage visitors to decide for themselves whether or not our stellar reputation is well-deserved.
Perhaps you were unaware, but Wood Green Academy is a charitable organisation.
Like any charity we are always seeking to raise charitable donations that will help us to offer new learning experiences for our students that, otherwise, we may not have been able to offer.
There are a number of ways we accept and raises donations to support our students and other charities: On occasion, we receive financial donations and requests that monies be spent in a particular way.
If you would like to make a donation, please contact me at the school at your convenience.
