Robust action has been taken to address weaknesses in modern foreign languages and humanities by establishing new leadership teams and recruiting high-quality teachers.

The leadership team closely monitors teaching standards through their 'teaching triangle' and offers support and professional development training to improve teaching effectiveness.

Safeguarding is effective with secure and robust systems for checking adults working with children and persistent follow-up with external agencies to provide support to vulnerable pupils.

Students in sixth form achieve well overall, but progress varies between subjects. Effective teaching in Year 12 chemistry and geography has led to good progress, but progress in some academic A-level subjects is not as good.

Middle leaders are an effective team driving school improvement using a common approach to monitor pupils' progress and intervene quickly with any underperforming students.

To further strengthen the progress of pupils in each key stage, more demanding questions should be used to extend pupils' knowledge and skills and teachers in the sixth form should consistently communicate clear next steps for improvement.
