From the King Edward VI Camp Hill School for Boys
The first school started in 1883 at Camp Hill, not far from the city centre, and moved to Kings Heath in 1956 because the first location proved to be insufficient for a developing institution. Expectations and standards are high in this tiny, welcoming community called Camp Hill, where a broad education helps boys get ready for the opportunities and trials of adult life. With our sister school on the same lovely location, Camp Hill Boys can legitimately claim to be one of the most successful and well-equipped schools in the nation. About 950 males make up our very modest community, and we get along well. The boys are supported by parents, governors, and old boys, and they are inspired by their great, highly qualified teachers. As a result, Camp Hill Boys consistently ranks highly in national league tables for exam scores and value added statistics that assess the boys' achievement and advancement. However, the vast majority of the boys typically place less importance on chess than they do on sports, music, theatre, or any of the other incredible possibilities and activities that Camp Hill offers. These opinions of the school were backed up by the "excellent" ratings the school received in the Ofsted reports from 2000, 2006, and 2009. The Inspectors discovered Camp Hill to be committed to continuous improvement and said that it had a "relentless pursuit of excellence in all facets of the school's work." We hope that our website will provide you with a sense of our school. Boys with aptitude should enjoy and be challenged by their education. They should experience support and care as they develop in a setting where the highest standards are demanded of them and met. Come and join us, this is what Camp Hill Boys is all about.
