I'm excited to share some fantastic news with you as the first half of the 2019–20 academic year draws to a close.
First, let me express our school's delight in the GCSE results that the Stretfordians of 2018–19 got in August 2019.
For the fourth year running, there has been a rising trend, and this year's results have broken all previous marks for SHS.
Our Progress and Attainment scores, which are much higher than the national average and demonstrate that our children are receiving the high-quality education they deserve, have now been validated by the DfE.
The School of the Year Award 2019 was just given to us in honour of our dedication to enhancing the careers education outcomes for young people in Greater Manchester. This is the second award we have recently earned.
We are aware that encouraging our children to consider their long-term objectives and aspirations is a powerful motivator and a surefire approach to put them on the road to success.
Thirdly, I'd want to introduce you to a brand-new employee who will be working with us after the break.
Oreo Murton is a specialist in his area who has received special training to work with children. He specialises in assisting kids in overcoming obstacles and reading-related phobias, assisting them in managing their emotions, boosting empathy, compassion, and self-esteem, and lowering anxiety levels.
You can be sure that Oreo will only ever collaborate with people who are at ease with him.
When he initially starts, Oreo will share an office with Miss Murton and me and, if circumstances permit, will venture into certain parts of the school.
The fact that Oreo is a dog is another crucial detail!
a therapy dog, specifically!
Reading with a dog has been acknowledged as a surefire way to boost reading engagement and aptitude, and research demonstrates that therapy dogs in schools can have a significant impact on well-being and mental health.
Next week, your kids will learn more about Oreo in their form classrooms.
Our school's website and the MyEd app both provide our Risk Assessment and School Dog Policy for your review.
You may relax knowing Oreo has received particular training to work at a school.
He will only work in certain locations, and neither children nor adults will be required to engage with him.
