By helping them to recognise and be grateful for all of their gifts and to develop them to the fullest extent in order to be generous in the service of others, we can help individuals become grateful for their own gifts, the gifts of others, and the joys of each day.
By encouraging the practise of attentive reflection and discerning decision-making through teaching, the examen, prayer, and retreats, as well as through the practise and example of school leaders and staff, students will learn to be attentive to their experience and their vocation and to be discerning about the choices they make and the effects of those choices.
Faithful in their convictions and hopeful about the future... by handing down the living and enduring tradition of Jesus Christ; by having unwavering faith in the students and inspiring them to do the same for others.
Eloquent and truthful in what they say about themselves, interpersonal relationships, and the world... by helping students develop an eloquent language that they can use to understand and express their feelings, convictions, and inquiries. Teachers should also encourage their students to be honest in how they present themselves and speak about the world.
By encouraging students to be curious about the universe and all human activity, to take increasing responsibility for their own learning, and by giving them opportunities to be active in the life of the school, the Church, and the larger community, educators can help students become curious about everything and active in their engagement with the world, changing what they can for the better.
