Lessons for the children of Bebington started in the Belfry of St. Andrew's Church in the year 1718.
There were three teachers and 150 boys and 100 girls could attend this school.
For 115 years, St Andrew's students were taught in this structure.
It was concluded in the 1970s that the structure was no longer functional, and plans were made to erect a new school on Townfield Lane.
The Bishop of Stockport gave the new school its official opening on Tuesday, March 12, 1974.
He referred to it as a wonderful moment in St. Andrew's School history.
The same year, St. Andrew's experienced a break-in on March 8.
The governors opted to buy a burglar alarm and complete perimeter fencing after a series of break-ins throughout the 1980s.
St. Andrew's made their very first computer acquisition in 1984.
Up until one wintry night in 1992, life at St Andrew's went on as usual during the 1990s.
Sadly, more than 80% of the school was destroyed, and what was left had to be mostly dismantled for safety concerns.
After a thorough investigation revealed that the fire had been intentionally started, a thirteen-year-old boy was accused with arson.
Parents were concerned that their children would simply be granted spots in nearby alternative primary schools because the fire had caused more than one million pounds worth of damage.
The Department for Education announced in July 1992 that the school would be rebuilt, and construction on the newborn department was started almost once.
In September 1992, the Key Stage 1 classrooms returned to the Townfield Lane location.
The Key Stage 2 classes did, however, spend an additional year at Acre Lane since the entire Junior department had to be entirely rebuilt.
The Junior students went back to their brand-new school for the first time in September 1993, exactly eighteen months after the fire.
During this time, Mr. Rodman, the highly respected headteacher, also decided to retire.
He had been in charge at St. Andrew's for a remarkable 22 years, and each year when we award the Rodman Shield for Effort, we honour his legacy.
Mrs. Liddy took over as his successor and ran the school until 1998.
In Spring 2000, a new reception classroom was added to the building and on 16th March there was a special assembly led by the Bishop of Stockport to dedicate the new structure.
The school's headteacher at the time, Mr. Williams, resigned in 2006, and Mrs. Woods was chosen to take his place.
The majority of the teaching staff at St. Andrew's now also began working there in the 'noughties.
The school's new headteacher is Mrs. Lamkin.
As we approach our 300th birthday, we are now a well-established school with a long and proud history.
Despite the many changes we have seen, much remains the same our strong links with St Andrew's Church, our emphasis on the '4 Cs' (Care, Courtesy, Consideration and Christianity), and our vision that the children at St Andrew's are 'Learning for life in a caring Christian community', so that they are equipped to achieve to the best of their ability in every area of life.
