From the Netley Primary School & Centre for Autism
Since its doors were opened to students in 1883, Netley Street School has made a concerted effort to raise student accomplishment levels. A brand-new structure was inaugurated in 1971 to offer early childhood services. Camden recognised a rising need to provide specialised care for kids with autism in the early 2000s. Four years later, the first centre specifically designed as a resource for kids opened. The school is presently located on the cutting-edge Netley Campus, which houses both an adult and a child learning environment. We have 415 kids total, including 24 autistic kids at our centre for them called Woodlands. Both Netley and Woodlands received 'Good' ratings across the board from OFSTED in 2014. And a Section 8 Ofsted inspection in 2018 confirmed this conclusion. In 2017 we enhanced our provision offer further, by opening Acorns, a new centre for two year olds and the iThink Lab, promoting the use of STEAM subjects with external partners. to increase achievement through effective and consistent feedback and marking to boost kids' self-assurance as communicators via language-rich techniques To increase everyone in the school community's sense of wellbeing to accelerate reading progress by explicitly teaching higher order reading abilities. Who do I want to be is the major question at my school. Students' knowledge, abilities, and comprehension are developed via competent subject knowledge and instruction. Pupil participation strategies are effectively used eg. talk partners, rehearsing and P4C strategies. Learning is supported with use of key vocabulary, practical resources and working walls. Open ended questions are used to get learners to think and articulate appropriate responses. Children's understanding is assessed in the lesson and they make progress by end of lesson.
