From the Lady Barn House School
The largest institution of its kind in the north of England, Lady Barn House School is one of the best independent preparatory day schools. For the range and calibre of the education we provide, we have a very good reputation both locally and internationally. We are pleased that our students do remarkable things while studying with us before transferring to a variety of senior schools, many of which offer scholarships. We value teaching and learning approaches that are tried and tested, but we combine these with modern, innovative and creative approaches to create a balance that we believe offers the best of both and an ideal foundation on which to build young lives. Our progressive co-educational day school, which was established in 1873, is still open to boys and girls from three to eleven years old. The child's health and happiness were given first priority when the school was founded, and this is still true today. With the backing of an amazing array of internal and external resources, the options provided by our curriculum and co-curriculum have expanded significantly over time. Our kids gradually gain knowledge and self-assurance thanks to small courses, attentive instruction, and diligent progress monitoring. We are a community that values treating one another with courtesy, respect, and flawless behaviour. This helps our pupils to become well balanced, confident, happy and well rounded young people who take great pride in their achievements and their school and for whom, on leaving, their world lies at their feet.
