Greetings from KEGS.
One of the top public grammar schools in England, KEGS has a long history that dates back to its founding in 1551 as well as earlier beginnings.
There is a high emphasis on academic accomplishment at this school, which specialises in offering specialised instruction to gifted young people. The majority of students—boys who enter in Year 7 as well as students, including females, who enter for the sixth form—go on to prestigious institutions.
At KEGS, there is a strong emphasis on work ethic, which is a result of the driven faculty and staff.
As an example, 23 students who left us in the summer of 2019 went on to study at Oxford or Cambridge, and another 23 students in the summer of 2019 were offered spots to study medicine at universities, placing us near the top of the national rankings for GCSE and A level results.
The average number of top grades received by KEGS students at the 2019 GCSE was higher than any other state school (7-9).
League tables, however, are not our guiding concept because we also respect the breadth of research, and depending on what they contain or how they are scored, such tables can occasionally be deceptive.
However, despite the undeniable emphasis on academic studies, our main goal is to support our students' development as well-rounded people.
We place a lot of emphasis on the idea of doing good deeds for people, both inside and outside of the school. Our pastoral system offers exceptional support and supervision, and our goal is for students to look forward to attending school every day out of a pure love of learning and the sense of community that comes with attending KEGS.
We also place a high value on the multiple collaborations we have with the primary and secondary schools in the area, and we think KEGS should continue to play a significant role in the Chelmsford neighbourhood as it has for many years.
Quicquid agas sapiens age fortiter ex animoque, the school's motto, has historically been translated at KEGS as "Whatever thine hand findeth to do, do it with thy might" (Ecclesiastes 9:10). This is the exact attitude with which KEGS students and staff work on a daily basis.
