I'm thrilled to welcome you to the website for The Hathaway Academy. In April 2014, I began working as the vice principal at The Hathaway Academy, eager to join a school that had already started down the path to success. After leading the Academy through its OfSTED inspection in June 2015, where we received a good grade, I decided to start our J2O, or Journey to Outstanding, in September 2015. I took on the responsibility of Acting Principal wholeheartedly for the previous two years until I was officially appointed to it in January 2016. Our GCSE results for 2017, the best the Academy has reported, have shown an improved upward trajectory, testament to the hard work and effort put in by both students and staff. The Hathaway Academy offers students and faculty a challenging and engaging learning environment that encourages and supports us all in striving for excellence. Our daily work includes student leadership because we want our kids to feel like they are involved in making strategic decisions. Because of this, they are eager to join our variety of student leadership groups and actively participate in their own and their peers' learning. They also feel safe and at ease while at the Academy. The main goal of our work as an academy is to promote teaching and learning, and I'm happy to report that this goal is advancing thanks to the outstanding staff's commitment to ongoing professional development. We are dedicated to giving our children the greatest possible education, which includes delivering instruction of the highest calibre and educating them to be responsible, active citizens in the future. Being in charge of The Hathaway Academy at this crucial juncture in our quest for excellence makes me extremely happy.
