From the William Brookes School
William Brookes School, a thriving institution with more than 960 pupils enrolled, is located in the charming village of Much Wenlock. The School serves a number of small communities in the vicinity of Broseley, a larger town, and is located around ten miles from the heart of Shrewsbury. The school's academic standards are excellent, and typically among the highest in the county, thanks to a highly motivated staff, eager students, and supportive parents. Our high standards are upheld through showing concern, fostering a culture of mutual respect and support among all staff members, and making sure that every student leaves with the credentials and skills necessary for a successful life. Though we constantly seek to improve our exceptional facilities and learning materials, the school undertook a complete refurbishment in 2010, making it the only school in Shropshire to have a building fully equipped for 21st century learning. We also have a sizable leisure centre with a pool and a 3G pitch, both of which are jointly run and open to staff and students during the day. We specialise in the performing arts, and the Edge Arts Center has first-rate spaces for both public and educational events. Along with the primary Performance studio, these facilities also feature a Dance and Drama studio, a Lecture Theatre, and a Cinema. Being the sole Coubertin School in Great Britain is a privilege for us. Due to our close ties to the contemporary Olympics, we were asked to join as founder members in 1999, and were given this prestigious title as a result. Discover more.
