Salutations from Thornford School.
A small village near the market town of Sherborne is home to our rural Church of England primary school, which is situated in lovely surroundings.
Our golden rule, "Treat others as you would like to be treated yourself," is utilised to encourage good attitudes and behaviours in our students. We have close ties to the neighbourhood church, St. Mary Magdalene.
Our children enter a nurturing learning atmosphere that is safe and joyful the moment they arrive in Reception.
In order for students to reach their potential, students are urged to work hard, have a growth mindset, and make accommodations for their specific requirements.
We impart to the kids the ideals of being accountable, compassionate, and considerate of others.
I am happy to report that Thornford has received the "Outstanding" rating from Ofsted in both of its most recent inspections (in May 2007 and 2014) as well as from our SIAMS church schools assessment (July 2017).
We are aware of the value of a strong, sincere cooperation between the home and the school.
Thornford School was established in 1874, and in 1975 it moved to its current location.
As a Church of England Voluntary Aided School, Dorset County Council looks after us.
The School benefits from a greenfield location with a sizable playground and playing field.
We are a component of both the Sherborne Pyramid and the Sherborne Rural Cluster.
