In Salford's Irlams O'th Height neighbourhood, there is a Catholic primary school called St Luke's that is voluntarily aided.
The majority of the students in our school are from the St. Luke's and SS. Peter and Paul parishes.
With 110 students enrolled, the school began operations on August 29, 1938, serving both boys and girls of elementary school age.
Sixty students from St. Luke's were evacuated to Blackpool a year later when the Second World War broke out, along with the head teacher and two other staff members.
Even though the school was converted into an ARP post, it stayed open during the war to provide instruction for the kids who weren't evacuated.
St. Luke's School has established a solid reputation as a school with a strong academic and athletic record throughout the course of its 70-year history.
Many of the students who first attended this school are now grandparents who are sending their own grandkids to St Luke's.
OFSTED inspected St. Luke's in 1999, 2006, 2009, 2012, and again in February 2017.
