October 2019, "Half Term Message from the Chair of Governors" It seems like yesterday when the kids got back from their summer vacation, and now it's half term. I believe every child has adjusted to their new year groups. A special welcome to the Year 3 students who have begun a new chapter in their academic journey. I also extend a warm greeting to the St. Begh's family to their parents and grandparents. Having completed seven years as Chair of Governors and 23 years in voluntary work within education I have informed the Governing Body and the Diocese of Lancaster of my intention to step down as Chair of Governors. This choice has not been made lightly, and it mostly reflects the future plans for my extended family. I am delighted to be able to inform you that Miss Lois Anderson (Foundation Governor and Chair of the Safeguarding Committee) has come forward to take up, on an interim basis until a permanent successor is found, the Chair of Governor's role. Lois is incredibly capable and is full of forward-thinking suggestions. Lois and the Headteacher have started the handover process. I'm still going to be a Foundation Governor so that I can keep helping Lois and the School. I have enjoyed immensely my time in the role, including the challenges, and more importantly the success in leading the Governing Body to support St. Begh's to become a Good School once again. There is always work to be done, and I know you will help Lois take on this significant position as she leads the Governing Body. Finally, on behalf of the Governing Body, may I sincerely thank all staff and parents for their work and the ongoing support as the School continues to successfully flourish.
