From the School
At St Bede's College we place Christ is at the centre of all we do, helping pupils to understand themselves, made in the true image of God, each other that we are the body of Christ and each member of our community matters and that everything we work for has purpose and meaning. The St. Bede prayer is the source of our college's motto, Numquam Otio Torpebat, which means "Never rest in idleness." This sends a clear message about our Catholic ethos of helping students discover their unique abilities and challenging them to pursue excellence for both themselves and others. We put the needs of each student first and build a community that is encouraging, nurturing, and prayerful. We encourage students wherever they are in their own personal spiritual journeys, taking our cue from Jesus in Luke 24:15. Through daily prayer, mass, retreats and acts of service we support the development of pupils to think independently but have a concern for their neighbour preparing them to be ready to be leaders in the community.
