Give them as much time as they need to participate, to do things for themselves so they can comprehend and be understood. It was feasible to teach kids how to use and take care of their own possessions. Consistently providing for children in all contexts and, to the extent feasible, promoting their independence referring to each child by their first name (rather than an inappropriate nickname, need, or disability) or an abbreviation they prefer, such as James rather than Jamie. When time permits, avoid doing things for children whenever feasible if they are capable of doing them on their own. Having both high and reasonable expectations for kids can help them reach their full potential. include kids in proper conversations and never talking about them absentmindedly. not treating the child like a list of duties to complete (toileting, feeding, changing, bathing). care and discretion should be used while handling any information pertaining to children. Information should be kept secure and shared only with those who require it. If information to be communicated, it must be correct, pertinent, useful to others, and in the proper format or documentation. maintaining a child's right to privacy, both at work and with other parents and carers. providing the highest quality treatment and education possible.
