Miss Dorothy Plumridge founded Rosemead School in her parents' home on Thornlaw Road in London.
The school may have started a year or two earlier, but as far as we know, it was already in operation by 1936.
This is how the school would have been characterised at the period when Dame Schools were particularly well-liked.
The school was exceptionally successful, and the 11+ exam pass rate was almost usually 100%.
When Miss Plumridge decided it was time to retire and close the school in 1974, she did so very abruptly.
Its past is obscure until 1878, when it changed its name to Dulwich High School and began with 47 girls under the direction of the Girls' Public Day School Trust.
Four hundred students from all throughout south London attended in 1885.
When the students were evacuated in 1939, the school was shut down.
The Old Vic Theatre utilised the structure after the war, most likely from 1949 to 1952, and operated a theatre school there.
Up until the Old Vic chose to sell it in 1974, Oakfield School later used the structure as a senior high school.
They acquired the structure and created the Thurlow Educational Trust, which is still in charge of the school today.
The school began operating under the name Rosemead and continued to grow.
So much so that Rosemead required more room at the start of the twenty-first century.
Year 1 received new classrooms in 2006, and in September 2012, a new mezzanine level with two Year 2 classrooms, an ICT lab, and study spaces debuted.
