The Rochester Grammar School's governing body has delegated the Local Authority to administer the Medway exam.
The administration of the students' preferences will subsequently be handled by the Local Authority as a clearinghouse.
Following the tests, the Local Authority posts both selected and non-selective decisions to parents.
On behalf of RGS, the Local Authority will mail place offers and denials to parents.
The school will also notify parents of the governors' admission decisions and the specifics of their ability to appeal those decisions.
On the website of the Medway local government, additional information on the tests is available.
The advertised admittance number for students entering Year 7 in 2020 at the school is 205.
First Cared For Children and any children who have ever been subject to a child arrangement order, adoption order, or special guardianship order after having been previously looked after (in the care of the Local Authority or provided with accommodation by the authority for a continuous period of more than 24 hours). [
Places will be distributed based on distance if the school reaches PAN and becomes oversubscribed within this point in the priorities for allocation.
When there is only one place in the Academy (RGS) available and there are multiple births or siblings in the same year group, the additional child(ren) will be given a place above PAN.
It is necessary to produce written medical documentation from a general practitioner or hospital consultant that outlines a specific health condition that necessitates the kid attending "The Rochester Grammar School."
Every parent who has been turned down for a spot at the school will have the choice to say whether they want to stay on the waiting list.
Children shall be kept on the waiting list in accordance with the admissions policy's requirements.
The amount of time a student has been on the list cannot be taken into consideration.
The position of a student on the waiting list may alter as new applications are added or as others are removed.
When parents of incoming Year 7 students ask to have their child's name added, the Rochester Grammar School is responsible for keeping a waiting list open until the end of December.
Applications for admission submitted during a period other than the regular admissions round (all year groups).
Only those entering Year 7 within the co-ordinated programme dates are eligible to take the 11+ test.
Children with SEND statements, where the academy is identified, will be given preference over PAN.
Existing students who are transferring from year 11 and who have satisfied the academic entry requirements for the academy will be given preference (outlined below).
All remaining spaces will be given to students who have met the entry requirements for the 6th form and their specific fields of study after the transfer of internal year 11 students into the 6th form (as set out below).
Five or more GCSEs in grades six through nine will be required for admittance to the International Baccalaureate (IB) programme.
According to GCSE results, The Rochester Grammar School will also publish the academic prerequisites for each IB subject that is offered.
There will be 210 spots altogether available in year 12 (the year 12 "capacity").
Twenty students were admitted for year 12.
This is the amount of spots that will be made available each year to qualified outside applicants.
If fewer than 190 of the academy's own year 11 pupils transfer into year 12, additional external pupils will be admitted until year 12 meets its capacity of 210.
The academy will admit any pupils with a statement of SEN or with an Education, Health and Care plan naming the academy who have met the entry requirements outlined above.
All applicants who meet the minimal academic entry requirements will be admitted or allowed to advance when the Sixth Form is undersubscribed.
4th Children of staff employed by the Academy: following the criteria above, priority will be given to the child of a person (1) who has been employed at the Academy for two or more years at the time the application was made and/or (2) where the person was employed by the Academy to fill a vacant post for which there is a demonstrable skills shortage.
It is necessary to produce written medical documentation from a general practitioner or hospital consultant that outlines a specific health condition that necessitates the kid attending "The Rochester Grammar School."
Distance will be based on the shortest distance from home to school, using the LA Geographical Information System.
If the school reaches PAN and becomes oversubscribed within any of the above points in the priorities for allocation, places will be allocated on the basis of distance.
Distance will be based on the shortest distance from home to school as per the Medway Co-ordinated scheme.
Offers will be made with the requirement that entry requirements specified on the academy's (Rochester Grammar School) website and in its Sixth Form prospectus are achieved in the final examinations prior to entry to the Sixth Form.
Offer letters will be made before the end of March, 2020.
Offers will be confirmed once the school has been notified of GCSE results in August 2020.
All year 11 transfers into the Sixth Form must meet the entry requirements specified within this policy.
Parents have the right of appeal to an Independent Appeal Panel.
The Appeal Panel will be independent of the Academy.
Where it is necessary to prioritise applications the criterion will be prioritised based on the shortest distance from the child's home to school.
Academies (including free schools) are allowed to give priority in admissions to pupils attracting the Pupil Premium payment to schools.
If more pupils apply to the school than there are places available, we (The Rochester Grammar School) will give priority to all the above categories of children under the 'Pupil Premium criterion' within our admission arrangements.
If we do not have enough places, places will be allocated on the basis of distance.
Children who are looked after do not need to be given priority under the Pupil Premium criterion, as they are already given highest priority in the admission arrangements alongside previously looked-after children.
All other pupils eligible for the pupil or service premium will be given equal priority for admission.
These children will be considered under 'Pupil Premium priority' within our published admission arrangements.
We will assess whether your child is eligible to be registered for free school meals (and so attract the pupil premium).
You will be required to provide some evidence of your child's eligibility for free school meals within the last 6 years.
This may be a letter from a predecessor school or your local authority confirming eligibility for free school meals or other evidence showing your child was registered as eligible for/ in receipt of free school meals.
