All of our meals adhere to government recommendations for wholesome school lunches. At lunchtime, staff members and all of the children dine together while savouring a variety of home-cooked and regional foods. Our chef, Toru, and his staff routinely change the menu to capitalise on the best vegetables and fruits in season. This is an example of our menu. We occasionally have family dinners where anyone is welcome to eat. We have a family breakfast every week so that everyone may eat before school. Yogurt and granola, bacon and egg muffins, cheese and herb muffins, french toast, and toast with honey or jam are all on the menu for this. Halal, gluten-free, and vegetarian diets are all taken into consideration. Government funding covers a charge meal for students in grades Reception through 2. Years 3 and 4 receive a $1.40 daily subsidy for lunch. As eating together and sharing the same food is a key component of the school's culture, there is no option to bring a packed lunch or a sandwich box. Each day, employees join them for this. There are always three options for the entrée and three options for the dessert. We provide two types of meat: non-halal and halal. All youngsters are offered non-halal meat unless parents have specifically requested their child to eat halal meat. Both meats are prepared independently and stored separately until serving. All children and adults have a choice. Family breakfasts and suppers have non-halal and halal options.
