The fact that Queen Anne's is a small school is something Mrs. Harrington used to emphasise frequently, but I've never understood why this is a positive. Bigger was better, at least in my mind, but was it really? Our proximity to one another is just one of many features that make Queen Anne's a community as well as a school. Due to the fact that being a L6 does not preclude integration with a L4, our school has a strong sense of community. Every girl has the opportunity to get to know everyone and to stand out thanks to the variety of contests, house activities, and cross-year events. And through all of these chances, each of us has gained confidence. We no longer fear the burden of expectations because we have the ability to create our own and, in doing so, go beyond what we think we are capable of (my example being Head Girl). Therefore, I think that since the groundwork has already been done and the recipe for success is in place, my job as Head Girl will be simple. All I have to do is lead the way by demonstrating to the girls that they should seize every opportunity presented to them because, in the end, it will be the foundation of their success. What is success, then? leaving this institution a better version of who you were when you arrived.
