The curriculum that is taught at Ordsall Primary School is based on the statutory requirements of the National Curriculum published by the Department of Education alongside the PHSE Programme of Study published by the PSHE Association and the Agreed Syllabus for Religious Education of Southwell Diocese. The intent of our curriculum is to provide children with rich, vibrant and memorable experiences that promote the applications of skills, knowledege and understanding across the whole curriculum. At the heart of this is the ancient proverb I hear things and I forget them. I see things, and I remember them. I do things, and I understand them. Our aim at Ordsall Primary School is for our children to not only understand but to cement their learning and the strategies they develop for the future. Recent research by the Creative Industrial Federation and the Department For Education indicates that by 2024 and beyond there will be an increase in creative and STEM (science, technology, engineering and mathematics) occupations. This means that we implement our curriculum through the delivery of learning opportunities in a contextualised and creative way across the whole curriculum. As a result of this, the impact of what we do will encourage all of our children to develop system skills, cognitive skills and interpersonal skills through playing, learning and growing together in an environment where they are valued, supported and cared for and somewhere where their individuality is respected
