From the Lawrence Community Primary School
Greetings from Lawrence.
We want our kids to be open-minded, self-sufficient, respectful, resilient, active, creative, and forward-thinking by the time they graduate from sixth grade.
Because of our excellent students, dedicated staff, supportive governors, and parents who want the best for their kids, Lawrence Community Primary School is a fantastic place for kids to learn. I'm proud to be the head teacher here.
This website seeks to provide current information for parents, students, and the larger community while also giving you a sense of the school.
Our goal is to give our kids a safe, joyful, and engaging learning environment where their skills and talents are valued and developed.
Every student at our school is given the chance to develop to the fullest extent possible in terms of their academic, spiritual, moral, social, and physical well-being.
Our school takes pride in its location in the neighbourhood, and we forge close ties between our students and their families and friends, encouraging attitudes of respect and responsibility for one another.
We value and honour the various ethnic backgrounds of all of our students and families at Lawrence Community Primary School, and we all share in celebrating the British Values that guide our institution, our community, and our nation.
At Lawrence, one of our main goals is to make sure that all of our students have the knowledge and character to contribute to society as useful citizens who appreciate and tolerate people from all backgrounds.
We take great pride in being a "School of Sanctuary."
We believe that this idea of fairness for all encourages an acceptance that people having different faiths or beliefs from oneself (or having none at all) should be accepted and tolerated. We have a responsibility to "actively promote" the fundamental British values of democracy, the rule of law, individual liberty, and mutual respect and tolerance of those with different faiths and beliefs.
We encourage a common understanding since everyone has the freedom to hold diverse faiths and views, and our school is fortunate to have students and families from a wide variety of cultures and religions.
As a school community, we actively oppose any form of discrimination that we notice. We believe that differences in faiths or beliefs should not be the basis for prejudicial or discriminatory behaviour, and we actively promote this idea through all of our actions, both within the curriculum and throughout all of our activities.
Include goals and exercises that address the benefits and drawbacks of democracy as well as how the British legal system and democracy differ from those of other nations.
Make sure that every student in our school has a voice that is heard, and by actively supporting democratic systems like a school council whose members are elected by the students, we can show how democracy functions.
Think about how extracurricular activities, such as those organised by students themselves, might help spread important British values.
We undertake a variety of events and lessons throughout our curriculum and through all areas of our school life that help us celebrate together, share and learn together all about these and all about each other.
Our motto is "Where everyone is valued" and we find that this encompassing approach enriches everybody involved with our school.
We teach and promote respect and tolerance for the differences in our community and the wider world through all aspects of school life.
We have daily assemblies, either class, Phase, Key Stage or whole school which uphold traditional values of empathy, respect and tolerance.
These values are also taught within formal SEAL, PSHCE and RE lessons and on an informal nature throughout the school days.
Why not view our school's contribution to a "STOP HATE CRIME" video shot but JMU students as part of an "Inclusive Cities" project at https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mkTEYF6Awws.
