From the Holy Trinity Church of England Academy
Holy Trinity School in Calne was founded as a voluntary-aided Church of England school on May 17, 1866, under the name Trinity National School. Lord Lansdowne donated the land, and between 600 and 650 were spent on construction, mostly from donations made voluntarily. From the 1880s through 1914, Mr. Harry Blackford was the headteacher of the school. Although significantly expanded and renovated, the original Victorian structure is still present. The construction of the new hall in 1961 and the addition of the six main classrooms along the school's front were both significant improvements. The former schoolhouse next door is now a private residence. The Trinity Center for Autism opened its doors in 2002. Since then, one year six class has been accommodated in a temporary classroom. The school has had 7 classes and a roll of roughly 210 students for many years thanks to a consistent inflow of about 30 students in each year group. At the summer of 2010, extensions to the five classrooms in the front of the school were finished, resulting in spacious, well-lit learning environments.
