From the Fishergate Primary School
The school serves students from ages 3 to 11 as a coed primary school. There are about 300 kids enrolled in full-time education, and some kids also benefit from part-time nursery care. Having opened in 1895, the school has been a part of the Fishergate neighbourhood for more than a century. Former students and those with connections to the institution talk fondly, reverently, and with pride of their recollections of Fishergate School. We hope that all those now participating, whether pupil, parent, member of staff or governor, feel similarly. The school educates students from a wide range of social and cultural backgrounds, serving a very varied population. We consider this to be a significant asset of the school because the education offered here equips students for the diversity of life outside of the school's walls. We want the kids to start a learning adventure that lasts their entire lives. The core of what we do is active learning and teaching. We inspire and empower all students to work together to accomplish great things, regardless of where they are from or what their needs are, thanks to the dedication and diligence of the staff team.
