From the School
The Tedder C P School is a coed, community primary school that serves students ages 4 and up to 11 years old. The Digby Aerodrome Council School was the first institution to occupy this location and it was inaugurated in April 1926. The school, which is situated inside the main gates of Digby Camp, was renamed the Tedder County Primary School in 1967 in honour of Lord Tedder (Scottish Marshal of the RAF). In 2000, the school underwent renovations, and a new hall was constructed, creating a brand-new resource that is used for several events. Five classrooms, a library space, offices for the headteacher and secretary, a staff room, storage areas, restrooms, and cloakrooms are also present. There are play areas, an adventure playground, a reception room, gardens, a wildlife area, and athletic grounds outside. The organisation of classes varies from year to year due to population fluctuations brought on by the posting of service personnel. We currently have five classes with both mixed and one-year age groups. The following class format has received the Governors' approval for the upcoming academic year. In Key Stage 1 and Key Stage 2, we are dedicated to maintaining class sizes under 30, and 35, respectively. Reception Class 1 25 Mrs. Sturton/Mrs. Hunter (sometimes will include some Yr 1s) Rec/Y1 Class 2 of Miss Jones, 25 Y2/Y3 Mrs. Rayney 20 Y3/Y4 class Class 4 Miss Appleyard 25 Y5/Y6 Mr. Wiley, grade 5 (20). Due to service personnel postings, we see far more movement than other schools. The Governors want it known that there will need to be a change between classes if class sizes exceed their limit due to varying enrollment. Parents of the involved youngsters will, of course, be informed if this becomes necessary.
