At Brimsdown Primary School, we take our duty to educate students for life in contemporary Britain extremely seriously.
Through the school's ethos and work, we make sure that the core British Values are introduced, discussed, and lived out.
All subject areas in the curriculum offer a means of deepening understanding of these ideas, but our RE and PSHE sessions in particular offer good chances to do so.
Children enthusiastically embrace these ideas and show a clear knowledge of how they might be applied to their own lives.
It's obvious that democracy exists at our school.
Through the School Council and student surveys, students have the chance to express their opinions.
Our citizenship programme includes instructional exercises that further the idea of the Rule of Law.
With the knowledge that they are in a secure and encouraging atmosphere at school, students are actively encouraged to make decisions.
We educate young students and set limits for them to make decisions securely as a school by offering a secure setting and powerful instruction.
Students are encouraged to be aware of, comprehend, and exercise their rights and liberties, and are given guidance on how to do so safely, for instance through our E-Safety and PSHE lectures.
Students have participated in talks and assemblies about what respect means and how it is demonstrated as part of our school's ethos and behaviour code.
The guidelines for the school and the classroom, as well as our behaviour policy, emphasise these concepts.
For each child, our learning mentor provides additional support in order to foster respect and self-worth.
For RE, we adhere to the Enfield approved syllabus, and for PSHE instruction, we make use of the SEAL resources.
