From the The Blue Coat CofE School
Our school, which enrols kids from all around Greater Manchester and beyond, is something we are really proud of. In 1834, it made its debut. Our founder, Thomas Henshaw, was a committed Anglican who left a bequest to fund a school which would provide education for the orphaned boys of the parish. The Blue Coat School has grown from its modest origins to become one of the biggest and most prosperous institutions in the nation. The school has a national reputation for high quality teaching and learning, pastoral care, consistently excellent examination results and outstanding progress. The school received an excellent rating from OFSTED on its most recent inspection in 2011–2012 in all areas. Blue Coat has been named a National Teaching School as a result, which means we collaborate with schools locally and nationally to create the best educational offerings. Blue Coat is a forward-thinking organisation with roots in tradition and history. Our historic campus has been restored and developed extensively; our students enjoy picnic lunches in front of a Grade II listed building but their learning takes place in superb 21st century classrooms, laboratories and studios. Blue Coat is committed to helping young people achieve their full potential and become the persons they were meant to be. Members of different Christian denominations and people of other faiths are welcome at our Church of England school. Our shared life in school is based on our Anglican beliefs, values, and worship.
