Our narrative began on October 2, 1989, when Zahida Hussain lay the cornerstones for Al-Furqan, which at the time went by the name Muslim Study Group.
Muslim Study Group began operations with four kids, ages 3 to 5, including Zahida's own daughter, on the first day after receiving inspiration from her mother and backing from her husband.
We served the educational needs of our pupils from our modest beginnings in a semi-detached house in Moseley, Birmingham, comprising just two rooms.
In order to make this change, the Muslim Study Group had to reorganise as Al-Furqan School (4yrs to 18yrs).
The newly funded institution was incorporated as Grant Maintained on February 1st, 1998, making it the country's first state-supported Islamic institution.
Al-Furqan Community College (Girls) remained a top-performing secondary school in England and maintained its independence.
The Al-Furqan family has undergone significant growth and development over the years and has faced numerous internal and external obstacles, but one thing has remained constant: each and every parent who joins the Al-Furqan family continues to give their all to ensure the greatest outcomes for their kid.
Zahida once responded, "Any parent who wants to achieve the best outcomes for their child and any youngster who keeps in touch after they have left school are the family of Al-Furqan.
A wise man once spent his days contemplating life while sitting beneath a shady tree outside of his hamlet.
A traveller approached him one day and said, "Old man, I have travelled far.
I have had a wide range of experiences and encounters.
Can you describe the folks I could encounter if I enter this village?
The sage responded, "Yes, I'll be glad to tell you.
But first, describe the types of people you have encountered on your travels so far.
"Oh, you wouldn't believe it, I've met the most dreadful people," the traveller retorted.
I have met people who are rude to outsiders and self-centered.
Yes, I am exactly the kind of person you refer to, he replied.
And I regret to inform you that this is the type of folks you will encounter if you visit my village. It's always the same, the traveller scoffed, "I knew it.
It always remains the same.
Without ever bothering to halt in the village, he stormed off along the road, kicking up dirt under his feet.
A few hours later another traveller came to the wise man and said, "Kind sir I have travelled far and seen many things and met many different people can you tell me if I go into this village what sort of people I will meet there."
The wise man replied, "Yes I'd be happy to tell you but first you tell me what kind of people you have met in your travels so far."
I've met the most incredible people, right?
The wise guy nodded knowingly while grinning brilliantly as the traveller spoke. " Yes" he said, "I believe I know exactly the kind of people you speak of.
That is exactly the kind of folks you will encounter if you visit my village, I am confident.
The message I got from this story was that the parents, children, staff, visitors, volunteers, partners, friends who choose to become part of the Al-Furqan family are very special and amazing people and it is their kindness, generosity, wisdom and passion that has made Al-Furqan what it is today!.
On our journey we have always accepted that like any family the family of Al-Furqan is not perfect so we have always valued criticism for it helped us to reflect and praise for it gave us energy.
Thank you to everyone past and present for your very special and amazing contribution to Al Furqan and we would like to welcome anyone who is special and amazing to join the family of Al-Furqan be it as a student, parent, staff or volunteer and become part of our story..
