At Wrenbury, we want our students to grow an interest in history that will help them discover their unique identities as individuals, members of societies, and members of the human race—a species that has existed and evolved on Earth for thousands of years.
We want our kids to realise that history is all about past individuals, groups, and locales, as well as how we came to know them and what we may take away from them.
Our kids will have the chance to acquire cohesive historical knowledge and awareness of both Britain and the rest of the world.
Children learn the abilities they need at Wrenbury to effectively delve into the past and how it influenced contemporary Britain.
They are trained to think critically, consider the merits of many points of view, sift through information, and form their own opinions.
Where possible, termly Learning Journey plans incorporate history coverage for each year group.
Children's Learning Journey books, work displays, pictures, and online newsfeeds all provide proof that students have learned about history.
As part of a comprehensive and well-balanced curriculum, we try to teach history.
The emphasis of history instruction at Wrenbury is on fostering inquiry.
We try to provide children with opportunity to ask questions about the past and use primary and secondary sources to find answers in every series of sessions.
Ensure that children can investigate history, ask questions, and receive answers in secure inquiry-based settings.
Give kids access to the tools they need to ask questions, look into things, analyse things, and learn.
The year-end curriculum review that the history subject leader creates informs action plans and the annual curriculum report to governors.
The history subject leader is in charge of keeping an eye on the level of students' work and the calibre of history instruction.
Additionally, the history subject leader is in charge of providing strategic leadership and direction for the discipline within the school, as well as assisting colleagues in the teaching of history.
At the annual Curriculum Meeting, Governors will receive a yearly curriculum evaluation and feedback form from the subject leader for History.
To deepen the understanding of the governors about the teaching of history at Wrenbury, the subject lead presents 'History at Wrenbury' to the Teaching and Learning committee.
We will also invite our link governor, who will serve as a Critical Friend in the classroom, to keep an eye on History.
This can involve speaking with kids, watching history lessons being delivered, and meeting with the subject-leader for history to talk about the place of history in the classroom.
Each year the Critical Friend will complete feedback which will inform future monitoring.
Subject Leader keeps an eye on coverage and development.
The subject leader for history makes sure that all of the school's policies are carried out in practise.
To keep our history instruction current, the history subject leader will, where appropriate, take regular courses on the subject or consult with colleagues from other schools.
With the assistance of a history specialist, the NEP (Nantwich Education Partnership) established a history hub for 2018–19.
The hub incorporates Wrenbury.
When possible, we look for ways to integrate history into the other subject areas of the curriculum.
