Recognizing their historical roots, the schools shall uphold and strengthen their religious identity in accordance with Church of England principles and in collaboration with the Church at the parish and diocesan levels. The school's mission is to serve the community by offering the best education possible within the framework of Christian doctrine and practise. Through the experience it provides to all of its students, it promotes Christian values and encourages an awareness of the relevance and meaning of faith. As a Church of England Voluntary Controlled school, Ellingham has always had ties to the church. Despite not being a voluntary controlled school, Woodton maintains the same traditions as Ellingham and has strong ties to the church. Although the aforementioned Ethos Statement was prepared for Ellingham, Woodton can also use it. Assembly and worship at the schools are thoroughly Christian-based in conformity with the most recent Education Act. The children attend church services at the churches on major occasions like Christmas and the vicars from both parishes regularly lead assembly at the school. Parents who wish to remove their children from the devotional portion of the morning assembly are encouraged to speak with the headteacher about their options.
