We value the variety of backgrounds among all students, families, and the larger school community at Woodbury C of E Primary School.
All that we do at our school represents British ideals.
We promote individuality, creativity, open-mindedness, independence, and respect for oneself and others in our school, our neighbourhood, and the larger community.
The following are some ways the Woodbury School actively promotes British ideals.
Our RE and PSHE curricula offer a thorough and balanced introduction to the major world religions and appreciate the similarities and contrasts among people from many cultures and religious backgrounds.
We maintain close ties with Millpond School Bristol, where students in years 5 and 6 exchange yearly visits and form friendships through letter-writing, as well as a school in Tanzania.
Knowing that they are in a secure and encouraging environment, we actively encourage our kids to make their own good decisions.
Children are given options within the curriculum regarding what they study and how they learn best.
All members of the staff teach the kids how to appropriately communicate their opinions and beliefs by doing so.
The kids have important jobs and duties at school, like as class monitors or librarians or serving on the school council or as members of the Ethos Group.
The kids have the option and chance to participate in a variety of extracurricular activities.
Through activities like our E-Safety and PSHE lectures, as well as during Circle Time, we encourage students to recognise, understand, and use their rights and personal freedoms. Students are also given advice on how to do so securely.
Posters for Childline and the NSPCC are widely placed all over the campus.
The pupils selected respect as one of our school values because they believed that it was crucial to academic success.
Every member of the school community treats one another with respect and exemplifies these virtues when interacting with coworkers and students.
Collective worships for the entire school and each Key Stage are organised around a subject that emphasises tolerance, respect, and honesty.
Our kids learn how to work well in a team while respecting everyone's opinions.
The exchange of ideas in public and constant consideration of other students' viewpoints are encouraged among our students.
Mutual respect is also reinforced by Our School Rules.
Everyone at our school, including staff, volunteers, and students, has clear expectations for behaviour.
We have a transparent whistleblowing policy that is upheld.
Time is spent at the start of the year and when ever the need arises helping the children to understand how the School Rules relate to their situation and why it is important to follow them.
Each class has a code of conduct created by pupils in each class at the start of the school year.
Laws and rules of the class, school and country are reinforced through specific assemblies, such as about road safety, and when dealing with behaviour.
Pupils follow, respect and appreciate different rules in different situations such as in PE lessons or during an educational visit.
The school supports pupils to regulate their own behaviour and make choices for the well-being of themselves and others.
