From the Withington Primary School
Our tiny rural school is located in the stunning Herefordshire countryside. We now have just under 70 students enrolled, which translates to excellent class sizes with no more than 25 students per class. Our children in the nursery and reception are part of the foundation class. We ensure that there is excellent provision for all our learners at every stage of their development through careful planning and differentiation to cater for individual children's needs, and even find that the nature of our mixed age classes mean that the expectations of the younger children are raised and they progress onto higher levels quicker. Since September 2010, we have been affiliated with Aylestone Business and Enterprise College. This partnership is extremely successful and means that as well as joint management of the two schools providing a seamless link between primary and secondary education, the children here at Withington have specialist teaching in a number of subjects and opportunities that most primary children simply do not have! For instance, all students in grades preschool through six currently take a weekly French class, while students in Key Stage 2 receive specialised instruction in the humanities and music.
