Since students only have one chance to pursue an education, Wilmslow High School is dedicated to pursuing greatness for each and every student, every day.
While challenging ourselves to strive greatness for all of our kids, we are dedicated to maintaining a joyful and loving atmosphere that is based on our core values and in which staff and students may thrive.
Our school is going through a period of expansion and development right now, and we are eager to see what lies ahead.
What does Wilmslow High School's pursuit of greatness look like?
We are dedicated to providing a comprehensive and well-balanced "whole" curriculum given by subject-matter experts who provide all of our pupils with a varied diet of academic, creative, practical, and athletic activities.
We are pleased of the diversity of chances we are able to provide our students to develop and succeed at the school, regional, and national levels as well as the breadth of our academic and extracurricular offerings (over 30 topics at GCSE and A Level and over 50 extracurricular activities).
Our goal is to raise young people with strong moral character who will succeed in the future.
We hold our pupils to the highest standards of decency and respect, and we are rarely let down.
At Wilmslow High School, we believe that every child matters, thus in 2015, we were honoured to become the first institution in the nation to be advanced to Inclusion Quality Mark Flagship Status.
For all of our students, we regard our school as being at the centre of the local, regional, national, and international communities.
Since 2011, Wilmslow High School has undergone four Ofsted inspections, and each time, it has received at least a "good" rating.
The only public secondary in the community, our school serves residents from Wilmslow, Handforth, and Alderley Edge.
As a result of the school's outstanding reputation, we have a significant backlog of applications.
Although we are a huge school with almost 2000 students enrolled, including a sixth form with almost 500 pupils, we are a school where every student is known because of our strong sense of community.
Although our intake of top achievers is ordinary, our intake of high achievers is well above the national average.
As part of our commitment to inclusion, we host two LA-funded resource facilities for hearing impairment and autism spectrum disorder. We have a higher than usual ratio of boys.
Our catchment has a very diverse social makeup, with students from the districts with the highest levels of deprivation in the nation to those with the lowest possible IDACI scores.
Narrowing the aspiration and achievement gap for these students, who make up about 16% of our student body, continues to be a top goal for us.
Regardless of their point in their careers, we are eager to develop our teachers and future leaders.
We provide induction programmes for new employees and freshly licenced teachers, and we actively participate in PGCE and Teach's initial teacher training programmes.
First We work closely with development programmes for "Whole Education."
All teachers are welcome to attend our middle leadership sessions, and we are glad to offer mentoring and leadership opportunities to educators eager to advance their careers.
