Expect the Best, Achieve Success gives our school's vision direction. We work tirelessly to ensure that every student, regardless of gender, culture, or socioeconomic background, leaves our school with the best possible academic performance, but more importantly, with the life skills necessary to succeed in their next stage of learning and adolescent life.
High standards and expectations are set by teachers and students alike in a safe and engaging learning environment, helping each child to fulfil their potential.
This is accomplished through setting an example of behaviour and designing a curriculum that offers opportunities to advance the British values that we hold dear.
Everyone is grateful for the responsibilities performed by the staff and parents in creating a special, loving, and encouraging atmosphere for our kids.
We are a family-oriented school with strong communal values.
A deeply held idea that respecting the faith, beliefs, and opinions of others develops a culture of tolerance and freedom for all views to be expressed underlies all of our acts, behaviour, and learning.
Children at Westoe Crown practise compassion so they can develop good hearts.
We are a very big primary school in the centre of South Shields on the north east coast of England (admission number of 90 kids per year group, totaling 621 Reception to Year 6 pupils, with 78 place nursery provision).
Our school, which was built in 2004 as a part of the Westoe Crown Village development, provides kids with a vibrant, welcoming environment where they may grow, have fun, and accomplish.
Our learning spaces are something we are quite proud of, and outdoor learning spaces are just as crucial as indoor ones.
We are enjoying peaceful reading periods throughout the school day, especially during playtime and lunch, and our brand-new Reading Village, which serves students in grades 1 through 6, is a big success.
In order to provide even more space, we constructed a new community room in the KS2 playground with the help of our kids' amazing design and technological abilities.
Following two years of fundraising by our children and their families, we have two tyre parks (KS1 & KS2) that were designed by our kids.
Additionally, there is enough room for a sizable indoor sand pit and small group rooms.
Our three Reception classes are set up so that children can enjoy the many learning opportunities while also allowing each class to have its own space when needed.
Every classroom in the school has an interactive smartboard, and the ICT suite is equipped with desktop PCs for use by the entire class.
Over the past academic year, two libraries have been established at the school, and a bar-coded indexing system is currently being designed (with the assistance of our kids!) for all libraries.
We let our kids pick the books they want to read and use their ICT abilities to check them in and out of the library.
Our school was established on the site of the Westoe Colliery, so we are proud of our coal mining background. This is celebrated frequently in school; you can see our Miners' Gala Banner in the main door and we have a "Miners' Corridor" that the kids created with a local ex-miner artist.
Our classrooms are lively and highly customised, and they need to reflect the kids' interests, knowledge, and personalities.
Our young people are taught to take great delight in their surroundings and play a significant role in the creation of their learning settings.
Role play areas are common in all year groups at Westoe Crown because you may always enjoy using your imagination and creativity.
Please spend a little time reading on to find out more about our school, our amazing students, staff, and governors.
