From the School
As the Headteacher of The West Bridgford School, I often think about how fortunate I am to have the opportunity to oversee such a superb institution. I don't use the word "excellent" lightly because Ofsted found it to be such during their most recent inspection in November 2011. West Bridgford School has continually shown itself to be a high-performing institution over the years, with results that routinely place us among the finest comprehensive schools in the nation, both at GCSE and "A" level. This has been accomplished in an environment of conventional academic principles, where high expectations for student achievement and behaviour are set through severe but fair disciplinary procedures and a school uniform code. A committed group of subject-matter specialists on our teaching faculty is the driving force behind our achievement. To ensure that pupils take advantage of the opportunities presented to them, our teachers are very effectively supported by associate staff. Our goal is to make sure that every child realises and exceeds their potential, and all staff members significantly contribute to this goal. We are lucky to have parents who are supportive and who care deeply about their child's education, and we fully recognise the value of the collaboration between home and school. Our school holds on passionately to the belief that we are here for our local community and strive to meet the needs of all our children irrespective of their ability, ethnicity, gender, disability or special needs. Evidence supports our conviction that we are genuinely comprehensive by demonstrating that all of the kids who are with us reach their full potential. No matter how gifted your child is, we pledge to work hard to help him or her reach their greatest potential in a loving and secure atmosphere.
