In St. Albans, Hertfordshire, a 2-19 maintained special school is called Watling View. Up to 92 students with a wide spectrum of deep and complex learning challenges are served by the school. These include severe developmental delays, complex medical disorders, physical and mobility issues, and severe autism. Our mission, which directs all we do for our students, is something we are passionate about. We prepare students for every learning level, including the transition to adulthood. Each of our students receives a curriculum that is highly personalised. We collaborate with parents, carers, other experts, and the larger community. To encourage best practises and ensure exceptional results for all students, we seek to be a centre of excellence. Teachers and other support personnel are well qualified in the delivery of curricula for students with Special Educational Needs. The staff collaborates closely with paediatric nurses and doctors as well as speech and language therapists, physiotherapists, occupational therapists, and other specialised medical personnel. Additionally, the school employs a music therapist, whose training offers children and their parents important assistance in exploring communication and growth in a secure setting. We have teachers who specialise in horticulture, swimming, food technology, and physical education. Rebound therapy is a specialty among the personnel. However, coming to visit us and seeing Watling View in action is the greatest way to learn about our school and how we operate. We actively promote participation from families, friends, and the community in all facets of school life and strive to work in cooperation with parents and carers to help our students reach their full potential. Visitors are very welcome and we look forward to meeting you.
