The purpose of the inspection was to assess the school's performance since the last inspection in 2014.

The outcome of the inspection was that the school continues to be good.

Some strengths of the school include effective safeguarding procedures and pupils feeling safe and happy.

Areas for improvement identified by the inspection include inconsistent implementation of handwriting and presentation policy and lack of high expectations for most able pupils.

The school has strong systems in place for ensuring pupils are safe.

The deputy headteacher is the SENCo and works effectively with parents, external experts, teachers and support staff to ensure appropriate provision for pupils with SEN and/or disabilities.

The early years teacher offers home visits to assess children's starting points and plans teaching and learning activities to ensure each child makes progress.

The school has a highly robust tracking system that monitors progress in reading, writing and maths. Half-termly and formal pupil progress meetings address concerns if any arise.

Pupils have many opportunities to write at length in English and other subjects, but teachers do not have high expectations for most able pupils.

The report will be sent to the chair of the governing body, the director of education for the Diocese of Norwich, the regional schools commissioner, and the director of children’s services for Norfolk.
