From the Wadebridge Primary Academy
Wadebridge Primary Academy's curriculum is distinctive in that it is especially crafted to meet the requirements and interests of our students.
We want to establish a solid basis for future learning by preparing students for the possibilities, experiences, and responsibilities of adult life through the curriculum.
We understand how crucial reading, writing, and math are for all kids.
Grammar instruction is incorporated into the writing curriculum, but it is also taught separately in the English curriculum alongside handwriting and spelling.
Wadebridge teaches students how to reason mathematically, work through issues, and use their mathematical knowledge in a range of real-world situations.
Children are taught to enhance their abilities, understanding, and creativity in subjects such as science, computing, history, geography, design technology, music, art, physical education, and religion in addition to English and mathematics.
Additionally, French instruction begins in the third year.
Cross-curricular teaching methods are used to teach these subjects, connecting learning.
A large number of teaching and learning activities now include the use of digital technology thanks to high quality ICT hardware and software.
At Wadebridge Primary Academy, PSHE (Personal, Social, and Health Education) is an essential component of the curriculum.
All staff members are dedicated to fostering in our kids a sense of right and wrong as well as the ability to accept responsibility for their own behaviour.
Children are taught about the neighbourhood they live in and are urged to collaborate with other students and staff members.
In order to raise sport-loving, physically active kids who enjoy a healthy lifestyle, we work to increase children's enthusiasm, competence, and confidence in physical activity.
Children in Key Stage One acquire skills in locomotion, manipulation, and stability through a multi-skills approach, which they can later use in a variety of sporting and competitive scenarios.
In Key Stage 2, these abilities are used in sports and activities like football, netball, hockey, tennis, and cricket as well as athletics, gymnastics, dance, and outdoor adventurous activities where the rules and circumstances are more formal.
Every kid receives 5 hours of coached swimming and water safety instruction annually to help them gain confidence and awareness around water because of our special location and close proximity to the ocean.
Through a variety of activities, including educational visits, school performances, visitors to the school who are artists, craftspeople, actors, and musicians, support from parents and other stakeholders, after-school clubs, and connections to our neighbourhood cluster schools and secondary school, we enhance and enrich the curriculum.
