We are a University Technical College that provides specialised programmes that were developed in conjunction with businesses in the exciting subjects of engineering, health, and life sciences. University Technical Colleges (UTCs) are government funded schools that work in partnership with industries and educational institutions to offer career-focused education to students ages 13 to 19. A second UTC was established in Sheffield in September 2016 with three new specializationsHealth Sciences, Sport Science, and Computingto prepare students for employment in the expanding health tech industry in light of the students' excellent enrollment and positive academic achievement. Students can enrol in UTC Derby Pride Park as early as age 13, in Year 9, or as late as age 16, in Year 12, and study both their technical specialisation and a general academic curriculum that includes GCSEs and A Levels. In order to increase their alternatives for employment, apprenticeships, and university programmes, students acquire the information and qualifications necessary. I consider it an honour to serve as the president of a University Technical College that belongs to one of the top UTC Academy Trusts in England. The primary goal of UTCs is employer-led education, and we are fortunate to have the support of some of the most well-known companies in the world, such as Rolls-Royce, Alstom, and Toyota. We especially appreciate the help and counsel from University of Derby, one of the best universities in the UK and a finalist for the 2019 Times Higher Education Supplement University of the Year Award. I support the Trust's objective of creating an excellence centre to address this need and improve children's chances of achieving success in life by collaborating closely with local companies, governmental organisations, and the University of Derby. In order for students to succeed in their chosen fields of study, we strive to provide them with the technical, professional, and interpersonal skills necessary.
