On the road to Potterne Wick, Urchfont C of E Primary School is located on the western edge of the community. There has been a school in Urchfont since the 1890s, although the current building is from 1975. Our school's ethos represents our conviction that each individual's behaviour, relationships, and self-esteem are crucial. Children and staff alike enjoy working together in the friendly, family atmosphere that permeates our school. 108 students are now enrolled, distributed across 4 mixed-age courses. The vast majority of our students are from the village, although an increasing number of them reside in the neighbourhood. The school is very fortunate to be located on its own lovely grounds, which also include a playground, sports field, and reflecting garden. We can easily stroll to the Oakfrith Woods, the nearby church, and the village, all of which offer engaging chances for active learning. We strive to provide our kids as many first-hand experiences as possible since we think learning should be enjoyable. In our garden, each class has a space where they can grow food. There are possibilities for all children to participate in residential visits, and visits outside of school are encouraged to supplement and extend the work done in class. Activities outside of school are planned by the staff, parents, and other experts. The season affects the availability of these after-school clubs. Sports competitions with nearby schools can be taken part in through a few of the clubs. We pride ourselves on our solid relationships with neighbourhood organisations like the Parish Council, Preschool, Church, and Scarecrow Festival since we regard ourselves as the centre of the community.
