From the Tipton St John Church of England Primary School
Tipton St. John National School was established in 1843, the fifth year of Queen Victoria's reign, with the help of Sarah Ireland.
Prior to that time, the education had been "conducted in a humble hut" and had been "mostly sustained by subscription of those dwelling outside of the territory." The community had about 500 residents.
When the school was opened, the juniors were on the first level while the infants were upstairs. However, in 1890, the upper floor and stairs were removed, and a rear addition was constructed to house the infants.
The Church of England was instrumental in establishing a school in Tipton.
The Church has always been a spiritually and physically close neighbour to its school.
Therefore, it was entirely natural that the school adopted its current status of "Voluntary Aided" in 1953.
In 1992, the school underwent a comprehensive renovation, including a new construction of the upper.
Our school is located in the centre of Tipton St. John, a well-liked and picturesque community.
There are playgrounds and a sizable grassy area on the school grounds.
We frequently use the community's amenities, including the river, the playing fields, the village hall, and the church.
The Tipton St. John community, as well as other rural communities, are served by the school.
