Our aim is that Thorner Church of England Primary School will be an inspiring environment to learn and play, assisting us in making the most of every day, via the application of our fundamental principles within a distinctly Christian setting.
For more details about our vision and values, please refer to the "vision and values" document that is attached.
With inspiration from people, places, and the suffering of our planet, our curriculum strives to teach students and the school community how to take responsibility for their own and others' welfare (body, mind, and spirit), empowering them to change the world both now and in the future.
The life of our school is centred on collective worship.
Every Friday, our community gathers to celebrate the children's success in all facets of their education and learning. This assembly honours their accomplishments both inside and outside of the classroom.
The children also attend services in St. Peter's Church at the beginning of each term and on important occasions throughout the year, in addition to the monthly worship services led by our Reverend Andy Nicholson.
These services are organised and led by the kids.
Children enjoy going to church to learn more about what they have learned in R.E. and other subjects. Andy helps us with worship (both at the school-wide and class-level) as well as pastoral care (being available to children, staff and parents in times of need).
We are very happy to begin working on the Global Neighbors Scheme through Christian Aid as part of our new curriculum in 2019–20, and we look forward to sharing more about this through our "We are Curators" topic in the Spring term.
We think that every member of our school community has a right to be able to learn about faith, values, and spirituality.
As a result, we have created the rules for spiritual development that are attached in order to assist our students, employees, and governors in this regard.
