The Prime Minister published a piece on the significance of aggressively promoting British values in 2014, the year of the 799th anniversary of the Magna Carta.
As a result, OFSTED now considers how effectively schools uphold British values while conducting inspections.
At Swanton Abbott Community Primary, this is not a brand-new concept even if it has grown in importance for schools since 2014.
The ideals complement British values and always have. They are an essential part of our ethos and values statement.
Since these values are shared by so many nations throughout the world and are consistent with those of the majority of democracies that uphold the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, the term "British values" may be slightly misleading.
At Swanton Abbott Community Primary, there are numerous chances for students, parents, and staff to have their opinions heard.
Adults constantly pay attention to what students have to say, and they teach them to do the same for one another while supporting everyone's right to an open exchange of ideas and perspectives.
We urge students to take responsibility for not only their education but also for their own growth and learning.
When reflecting on behaviour choices in class or at play, assemblies speak to and actively reaffirm the importance of rules and laws, whether they be those that govern our country or our school.
Our students are encouraged to be aware of, comprehend, and exercise their rights and liberties, and they are taught how to do so securely.
Due to the lack of ethnic diversity in the area where Swanton Abbott Community Primary is located, we lay a strong emphasis on fostering diversity among the students.
Our kids discover that the actions they take have an impact on both their own and other people's rights.
Everyone associated with the school should respect one another.
