Every kid is cared for as a child of God in a Christian community, which is the essence of our organisation.
Children need to comprehend how and why they are learning in order to learn effectively. They also require a careful mix of challenge and support in order to be the "best that they can be."
Our interactions with kids and their parents are extremely important to us, and we view parents as participants in their children's educational journeys.
We conduct a daily act of communal worship every day, sometimes as a whole school and other times in smaller groups like classes or families.
To close the week, we hold a special communal worship session on a Friday at 2.40 p.m.
During this service, we recognise the children's accomplishments and take some time to consider the week's highlights and lessons.
It is always very nice for your child if you are present to join the service with them, especially if they are receiving a certificate. Parents are more than welcome to participate in this collective worship with us.
St. Martin of Tours inspired the naming of our school.
It is believed that Martin had a dream the next night.
Martin made the decision to become a Christian and was baptised as a result of his experience.
Because of his convictions, he genuinely didn't support participating in combat, therefore he went to visit the Emperor.
The Emperor was a little miffed since Martin was a good soldier and the Emperor wanted him to join his army, but Martin insisted that he must uphold his moral principles.
Martin established a monastery and became a monk.
Martin hid in a barn full of geese when the people came looking for him, but sadly the geese honked excessively and the people found Martin and convinced him to be a Bishop.
Martin passed away on November 8th, 397AD, at the age of 81.
To make sure no one forgot him and because St Martin had often said that he wanted to be a light that shines for everyone, someone had the idea of dedicating the lantern walks that already happened in Germany to St Martin.
In order to commemorate St. Martin's numerous acts of compassion, youngsters in Germany light lanterns and walk through the streets on a November night.
In November 2012, we began the custom of lantern walks through Cranbrook in honour of St. Martin.
