From the St John's Catholic Primary School
The Shropshire Education Authority and the Diocese of Shrewsbury both oversee the Catholic Voluntary Aided Primary School known as St. John's. Since 1856, the school has been offering education to the youth of Bridgnorth's Catholic neighbourhood and the surrounding area. The initial location was behind the parish hall that is now St. John's Church. The current school was constructed in three phases beginning in the 1950s and has only one floor. In addition to the adjoining school kitchen, there are seven classrooms, a PAX (peace) room, a library, an administration area, and a hall. It is located on its own property and features two playgrounds, a playing field, a trim walk, and friend benches. Each classroom has a wet area and a class library. All classes have projectors and interactive whiteboards. Within the framework of a strong religious tradition and history, we offer a solid secular education. We are aware of the importance of a child's total growth, including their academic, spiritual, social, moral, artistic, creative, and athletic accomplishments. This lays the groundwork for their future educational and professional careers. The school takes pride in having a compassionate neighbourhood that encourages youngsters to have positive attitudes. The mission statement gives our goals and objectives a focus for the children, parents, employees, and governors.
