From the St Helen's Catholic Primary School
The oldest Catholic primary school in Southend, St. Helen's, has been operating out of its current location since 1973.
Our school is increasing from one class each year group to two classrooms per year group, which is an exciting moment for us.
We will introduce two reception classes in September 2015, and by 2021, we will fully transition to a two-form entrance system with a total of 14 classes.
We'll keep working to make St. Helen's Catholic Primary School a welcoming neighbourhood where everyone is respected.
The design of our new building has included input from students, staff, governors, and parents/caregivers.
The term "RESPECT" serves as the cornerstone of everything we do and is reflected in our mission statement, which was developed by the students.
We believe St. Helen's is a thriving, multi-cultural community where 61% of our students are able to communicate in at least one language other than English.
At each assembly for the entire school, we now greet each other in at least 14 different languages, including sign language.
We have learned these good mornings from our students at St. Helen's, where we are all students.
We value studying outside of the classroom, therefore we frequently take trips and make good use of our expansive grounds.
Our school places a high value on prayer, and every day starts with either an assembly or a prayer service in class.
