We belong to the Diocese of Blackburn and are a Church of England school. All facets of school life are based on the Christian faith and the teachings of Jesus Christ as found in the Gospel, which has shaped our school's unique pastoral and loving culture. According to our mission statement, we teach kids about the Christian message, its morality, and provide a foundation for their lives. As a high achieving school academically, staff at St Gabriel's have the highest expectations for every child especially in Reading, Language and Mathematics which form the vital core of learning. However, we also acknowledge that every child is an individual with particular skills, talents, and abilities. Additionally, we think that for kids to succeed in the classroom at their highest levels, they need to be motivated and happy. Also important, in my opinion, is that they build and strengthen their self-confidence early on. As such we aim to nurture children's wellbeing, motivation and confidence across school in our daily lessons, but also through other opportunities such as music (choir and orchestra) or competitive sporting activities. Actively fostering children's self-esteem is another benefit of encouraging them to assume leadership or responsibility. We hope that when our kids graduate from elementary school and enter high school, they will do so as confident, capable young adults who are prepared for the challenges of the next stage of their academic careers. I hope that you have gotten a sense of our school in this quick communication. We warmly welcome you to visit us to meet the staff and children, to take a look at our organic garden and landscaped outdoor area (complete with fire pit and running stream) and, perhaps, to meet our resident rabbit and guinea pigs!.
