The parishioners of Glastonbury established St. Benedict's C of E VA Junior School to serve all local students. It was constructed during the time of Queen Victoria and has since been enlarged and expanded as the population has grown. Take a look at excerpts from the first and second school yearbooks from 1876 and 1877. Kids aged 7 to 11 can attend our school to receive an education. Most kids from St. John's Infants' School transfer to St. Dunstan's School when they are 11 years old. We presently have 218 students enrolled who are from Glastonbury and the surrounding area as of January 2018. Our school is a friendly place that is also attractive and intellectually interesting. It encourages students to recognise their abilities in the areas of academic accomplishment, artistic expression, and physical prowess. We take great pride in having received the Dyslexia Friendly School Status and the Healthy School Status designations. We have close ties to both The Church of St. John the Baptist and St. Benedict's Church, where we hold our services. In actuality, St Benedict's School is where the majority of the choristers in the superb St. John's choir attend. To achieve the aim of our mission statement 'Dream, Believe, Achieve', we seek to provide a Christian environment, where we endeavour to engender in young people self-confidence, appreciation of the skills of their peers and sensitivity to the needs of others. The following are significant findings from the most recent Inspection of Anglican Schools report (November 2016): We are a junior school that is dedicated to serving the community of Glastonbury by fostering the growth of students and staff. All parents can be confident that their children will receive an excellent education at our school.
