From the Skipton Girls' High School
In the centre of Skipton, a bustling market town in North Yorkshire that was recently named one of the finest places to live in the UK, there is a STEM and engineering-focused school for girls called Skipton Girls' High School. The Academy provides educational services to the residents of North Yorkshire and the nearby areas that border Lancashire and West Yorkshire. The Academy is an 800-student, successful 11–18 selective state school that has twice been designated as "Outstanding" by Ofsted. While the school is selective for students entering in Year 7, girls entering in Year 16 come from more than 20 different secondary schools in the area. Although the majority of the school is housed in conventional structures, on December 3, 2015, we were thrilled to unveil our brand-new, $1.8 million STEM centre. The centre offers us cutting-edge learning areas designed around the idea of inquiry-based learning.
