From the Sir John Barrow School
Being the headteacher of Sir John Barrow School, a thriving and welcoming nursery and primary school in the very centre of the Ulverston community, is a wonderful honour. We celebrate an upward trend in our students' attainment, with good or better pupil progress, and are proud to be recognised by Ofsted as a good school that is quickly improving. Succeeding, Enjoying, and Belonging, which is our motto, captures who we are and what we stand for. Success, enjoyment of school, and a strong sense of belonging are our top priorities for all of our kids. We are proud of our kids, who are highly involved in the management of their school. SJB, as it is fondly referred as, values its solid ties with parents, carers, and the larger community. We gain from having a capable governing body, a responsive parent group, and stimulating and creative connections with local businesses and the community. I want to personally greet you and wish you a "piping hot" welcome. I also hope that the details on our website and brochure will help you get a feel for our school. If you want to stop by and take a look around, please call the office to set up an appointment. Our doors are always open.
